Legacy Foundation Announces Promotion of Kelly Genners to Vice President of Programs and Initiatives

The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation is pleased to announce the promotion of Kelly Genners to Vice President of Programs and Initiatives. Ms. Genners was the first person hired by the Legacy Foundation board in May 2010 as the Director of Operations.  In 2011, she was promoted to Director of Community Leadership and Grantmaking.  In that position she was directly responsible for the Foundation’s grant making programs including the LCL Scholarship Fund, the McCune Endowment and the successful launch of the Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund along with the Foundation’s website.

“As the role and work of the Foundation has continued to grow, it became clear that we needed a staff person dedicated to policy and issue-related research along with due diligence on potential opportunities” stated Legacy Foundation President and CEO Brad Little. He further added “this new position along with the addition of a Grants Program Manager, who will report to Ms. Genners, will free her up to pursue those initiatives”.  Ms. Genners assumed her new position at the beginning of 2016.  The Foundation is currently seeking candidates for the Grants Program Manager position.

Before joining the Legacy Foundation, Ms. Genners held the Director of Donor Relations and Foundation Director positions at the Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation. Prior to that, she managed the Advancement/Alumni Relations office and served as Annual Fund Coordinator for William Penn University. Ms. Genners holds an AA Degree from Indian Hills Community College, a Business Administration Degree from Buena Vista University and is currently completing her graduate work with an emphasis in Community Development through Iowa State University. Additionally, she is a member of the South Central Iowa SCORE Board, Regional Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board and is a 2013 graduate of the Ottumwa Leadership Academy.
